Hello and welcome to Connect Counselling. I'm Anya Bernhoeft and I'm a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor. My approach to my work is grounded in empathy, understanding, safety, and trust, helping clients to explore difficulties, make sense of their world and create meaningful change.
One of the things I love most about my counselling is simply meeting new people. Everyone carries a unique narrative, and I feel honoured every time a client trusts me with their story. I am genuinely curious about your experiences and dedicated to helping you find the path forward that feels right for you.
At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the importance of human connection and the ways our relationships shape how we experience ourselves and others. I aim to provide a safe, trusting, and compassionate therapeutic space where adults, children, young people, and families feel heard, understood, and supported.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of each client, recognising that every person's experiences and challenges are different. I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches to provide support that is thoughtful, flexible, and centred around the person I am working with.
I have years of experience working with adult private clients, as well as counselling within schools settings and alternative provisions. Through this work, I support families to better understand and respond to their child’s emotional needs. I am particularly passionate about providing therapeutic support for adopted children, children in kinship care and young people. I deeply believe in working holistically and systemically to help children thrive, reach their full potential, and build a brighter future. By supporting the child within the context of their family, relationships, and environment, lasting positive change and emotional wellbeing can grow.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
